At least is was Christmasy......

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2008 09:51 (A review of Fred Claus)

I love Jingle All The Way, Elf, The Santa Claus, and all those movies. I at least expected for this movie to be close to some of those. I was wrong. It was funny at times, and it had some good music, but it just lacked a really good story. It was an interesting plot to say the least, but the whole movie just seemed like they tried too hard to be different. I am not generally a traditionalist, but when it comes to Christmas I need something familiar. Maybe the idea of Santa having a brother was too much, or maybe there was enough laughs for me. Overall the movie just didn't entertain me as much as I thought it would.

Scorcher VII!

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2008 09:42 (A review of Tropic Thunder)

Ok, 2 things made me laugh so much in this movie. First, the previews beforehand and Tom Cruise. There is something about Tom Cruise in that character, dancing like he does that just makes me break down and laugh, even when no one else is around. Honestly, the movie itself was ok, some funny parts but overall just ok. I would seriously suggest this movie for just those two reasons. I don't care what anyone says, Tom Cruise and fake previews are funny. All it needed was Steven Seagal as Cock Puncher.

Not Quite.....

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 22 December 2008 09:32 (A review of The X Files: I Want to Believe)

I really love the X-Files, in all its forms. The show is awesome, and the first movies was pretty good, but what in the heck? The supernatural, unexplained, and paranormal have always been an interest of mine, and this movie was suppose to be in that ally. Don't get me wrong here, there was some of that, but the title should be a dead give away. To me the whole movie was less X-Flies-ish, and more about two old agents in love getting together, and then struggling to agree with each other. There were a lot of plot points in the movie that had absolutely nothing to do with the unexplained. More like a soap opera with some X-Files elements, rather than an X-Files movie. That, and some of the characters seemed to be there just to be there. I would see a third one, but this reminds me that really anyone can get a hold of the rights to a franchise, so I got to be cautious.

A Pretty Good Movie

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 15 December 2008 01:48 (A review of Wing Commander)

Never really played the game, and I never did read the book, but I can say that the movie was pretty good. It wasn't a huge movie, even in its day, but I enjoyed it enough to put it on my "to get" list. The story is interesting, the plot to the movie was pretty good to me, and the character were nicely put together. After watching the movie, I just want to sit down with the book and learn more about the back-story. Overall, I give it an 8/10, with loss of point attributed to it being good, but not the best.

Not Too Bad, But Not Awesome

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 7 December 2008 03:40 (A review of Double Team)

I am a huge fan of Van Damme, and I love all of his performance in this movie. It is a pretty good example of your classic action movie. I am not going to say that the plot is breath taking, or that the acting is Broadway material, but I enjoyed it quite a bit. It wasn't the best movie I have ever seen, but it was good enough to give it a chance. The biggest issue was Dennis Rodman. Where in the heck did he come from? The cover makes it seem like he plays a huge role, and in the last 30 minutes, he does. Other than that, it is mostly the Van-Man who is the focus. It seems like the movie could have been better without a horrible actor like him. It also seemed like he played himself rather than his character. Overall, not a bad movie, but it is on the bottom of my "To Buy" list.

Pretty Darn Good Movie

Posted : 15 years, 4 months ago on 5 December 2008 10:49 (A review of Cloverfield)

i have to admit that I have never really seen the Blare Witch Project, and this is the first movie I have seen shot with this particular point of view and style. I really like it, it was a darn good movie, with a decent plot, relatable characters, and some awesome monster action to back it all up. I can't say how many times I was bet that this would turn out to be a new Godzilla movie, but it wasn't. In the end, I can see this becoming a classic monster/horror film, fit for any shelf that appreciates a unique experience in a movie.

My Kind of Movie!

Posted : 16 years, 7 months ago on 1 September 2007 06:12 (A review of Executive Decision)

This is your "typical" action movie, and it is old school as well. Back in the day when suspense and terrorists were the order of the day. Less politics more action I say. I could watch this movie 1000 times and never get tired of it. I LOVE IT!

Eh.

Posted : 16 years, 9 months ago on 10 July 2007 05:34 (A review of Shadowrun)

The fact that all you can do is deathmatches or online play makes the game really boring for me. I enjoy a story mode, and I enjoy coop mode as well, and this game has neither. You can play online if you want.....if you want to wait 10 minutes for a match to pickup. The gameplay itself was pretty good, and having 4 unique races and lots of magic, tech, and weapons make it quite cool. But, I dont really like playing online that much, at least not FPSs, but I did try a couple games. This game has a unique feel and gameplay, so try it. If you enjoy it, more power to you.

WOW, What a movie!

Posted : 16 years, 9 months ago on 10 July 2007 05:18 (A review of Transformers)

Well, I didn't expect one thing or another, but I did expect a more realistic view on the whole idea of a tranformer. This movie definatly accomplished that. Altough they deviated from the true transformer theme, they did do a really great job of making up for it. The fight scenes were amazing, and action packed to the bone. It was sometimes hard to tell who was who, but they were still really awesome. For any transformer fan, you should go and see it. BUT, it should not be considered a family movie. This movie is not for the kids.

Man, Frustrating

Posted : 16 years, 10 months ago on 19 June 2007 10:57 (A review of Dead Rising)

OK, I was really ready to play this game, and I was definatly ready to take out some zombies. Then, the disappoint set in. Yeah, its a fun game to play, and it has some really cool features, but it can be so frustrating at times. Hey, Im a gamer, yeah I get angry, but this one took the cake. The save system in this game SUCKS, I would die and have to start from the last save? Autosave anyone? Try it for yourself, if you can handle the save system, more power to you. But, it can be pretty catchy at times, once you get a little use to the game. I havent got very far yet, but I may someday. Overall, not that bad, but you have to try it for yourself.
